The works of Michael J. Doherty & his students.
The "Atelier" exhibition is a collection of works Michael has amassed in his practice over three years. His art represents a renewal of the practice of the old masters in figurative, narrative & genre compositions. The 21st of October at 5PM is the opening evening and the exhibition will continue for three weeks, the paintings will be available for viewing in the space from the 16th of October.
Michael acts as part art-historian, part artist in his practice. As an instructor in the methods and materials of realistic painting and drawing, his teaching propels the development of his creative works. His paintings employ a robust knowledge of anatomy, history, structural drawing, a deeply creative and technical artistic process. Michael will be showing work alongside several of his students from the Scottish School of Classical Art.
